It’s scary how consistently there are three books written with the help of credited ghostwriters on the New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction Bestseller list. Here are this month’s:

6
PROMISE ME, by Nancy G. Brinker with Joni Rodgers. (Crown Archetype, $25.99.) How a sister’s love started a global movement to end breast cancer.

21
COMING BACK STRONGER: Unleashing the Hidden Power of Adversity, by Drew Brees with Chris Fabry. (Tyndale House, $26.99.) The N.F.L. quarterback recovered from an injury to play for the New Orleans Saints.

29
CALLED TO COACH: Reflections on Life, Faith, and Football, by Bobby Bowden with Mark Schlabach (Howard/Simon & Schuster)

Be sure to support your fellow ghostwriters by using the links above to buy the books.

Very interesting. But isn’t the phrase “credited ghostwriter” an oxymoron. As an uncredited ghostwriter of a dozen nonfiction books, it seems like “jumbo shrimp” and “open secret” and “pretty ugly” and the rest to me.

You’re right, Henry. It is pretty funny. I think it’s great that there are authors out there willing to give us ghosts a “with” credit. It’s also cool to hear that you’re doing well as a “true” ghost. If you’re allowed to, let us know what you’ve worked on!
